Perodua Axia has been on the Sri Lankan car market since its debut in 2014. Given its position as the most affordable car in the country. The Axia has more presence on the road as a straight replacement for the Perodua Viva and is even comparable to the larger Sedans when viewed side by side. They are separated by only a few inches in length and somewhat more in width.
This increased size gives the Axia a lot more adaptability to the budget-conscious consumer and is obviously a move by Perodua that emphasizes how it appears to have no qualms if their cars intrude on each other's turf - if the value can be added, do it. We're looking at the Axia 1.0 Standard G Automatic, a mid-range model that has more to offer than its low price and average pecking order may suggest.

Perodua Axia Review
Look no further if you're looking for a compact car for your next buy. The Perodua Axia is among the top alternatives on the market right now. It is significant, dependable, and equipped with several fantastic features ideal for any driver. The Axia has some outstanding characteristics that will appeal to practically everyone. It not only features an automatic transmission, but it also has dual airbags and ABS brakes, making it safe to drive in all weather conditions.
Exterior
If you thought Perodua's last car, the Viva, was a touch too bland on the outside. In that case, you'd be satisfied to know that with the Axia, they appear to have purposely avoided straight lines and squared or rectangular shapes on the exterior. In that regard, it's a significant improvement. There are defining lines running all over the Axia's front and side. While that rhythm is toned down slightly at the rear, it's reasonable to say that Perodua listened to customer comments and intended to provide an overall better-looking car, even at its most basic offering.
The Perodua Axia we drove for this review was painted in Cherry Blossom Metallic. While that color isn't the manliest, this reviewer did find it highlighted off the car's more appealing features, especially in the sunlight. When viewed from the front, the Axia retains the Myvi's angled headlamp design and the diagonal motif carried by the upper and lower front grills. It's a purposeful fascia that's not overly forceful. The wheels are an intentional but not boring pair of 8-spoke alloys that complement the automobile's overall look. Subtlety was required for the Axia. Given how little ostentation Perodua applied even to the more expensive SE and Advance variants equipped with GearUp accessories, this appears to be a shared sentiment.
Interior
When you first open the door and sit inside the Perodua Axia, there's an immediate sense of space that never entirely leaves you as accepted truth. How does a car this little on the outside seem so spacious on the inside? A combination of intelligent packing, material selections, and the elimination of heavy trim pieces is undoubtedly at work here. An adequately positioned set of buttons and dials front the driver, with the central speedometer and unusually recessed left-side tachometer analog. At the same time, the fuel and gear selection readouts are relegated to a digital readout on the right.
The two central air conditioning vents are located in the dashboard's center, below which is the CD Tuner stereo, which drives audio to a four-speaker system and under which the air conditioning controls are located. There is little to no learning curve required to grasp any of the controls because, aside from being extremely basic in function, they indicate their purpose.
When it comes to the more cheap end of the market - and in this case, we're at the far end - the issue of build and trim quality inevitably arises. Yes, there's no getting past the fact that the plastics here are harsh, and even upgrading to Myvi results in a substantial increase in overall plushness. Given how cheaply this car can be owned and operated, there was never a time when I didn't believe the arguments were strong - everything is well put together and has a sturdy feel that's on par, if not occasionally above, its price bracket.
The dark-colored seats are cloth but comfy, with the trade-off being that the lack of side cushioning results in a looser and more unconfined sitting experience. Let's face it, and you're unlikely to be taking sharp corners quickly enough to necessitate additional side bolstering. The same is true for the rear seats; there isn't much recession here, but it's just enough to distinguish between the left, center, and right. They are, however, acceptable for short to intermediate-distance travels and, when combined with the very extensive back legroom, allow for enough freedom of movement for nervous passengers.
Performance
The Perodua Axia is powered by a 1.0-liter DOHC VVT-i engine that produces 68 horsepower and 91 Newton-meters of torque. The lowest spec Axia E is the only model with a 5-speed manual transmission, while all other variants make excellent use of a 4-speed conventional automatic.
Even though it is a relatively light car, Perodua has done a remarkable job of keeping the vehicle well insulated and free of many crashes and creaks that leave an unsettling impression of the car's design. The Axia comes into its own at city speeds. The 1.0-liter 3-cylinder engine has enough power at low revs to pull the Axia firmly between 30-70km/h. It absorbs bumps nicely and does not become uncomfortable quickly, even if you approach a speed bump too soon.
In terms of fuel economy, Perodua claims the Axia as one of the most fuel-efficient cars on the market, giving a stated maximum fuel consumption number of 20.1km per liter of petrol - equivalent to 5-litres/100km.
Conclusion
If you want to buy a car in Sri Lanka, the Perodua Axia is an excellent choice. It is roomy, dependable, and has specific amenities that appeal to a wide range of drivers. The Axia includes, among other things, an automatic transmission, ABS brakes, and air conditioning. These are only a few of the many aspects that contribute to the success of this vehicle.
