Suzuki Alto Review

In Sri Lanka, the Maruti Suzuki Alto is a four-door hatchback with an 800 cc Petrol engine. It has a capacity of four passengers. Its engine produces 40 horsepower at 6000 rpm. Maruti Suzuki Alto has a 0 to 100 kmph acceleration time of 13.3 seconds and a fuel efficiency of 20 - 24 km per liter. It has a manual 5-speed transmission.

Performance

The Alto's petrol engine may not have remarkable stats on paper, but don't forget about the hatchback's lightweight. Alto does not feel underpowered at all due to its lightweight build. The car feels terrific to drive in the city, and speedy overtaking is simple. Driving the hatchback in bumper-to-bumper traffic is also a breeze because there is no need to swap gears regularly. When wholly loaded, however, it will not operate as effectively. The Maruti Alto has a mileage of an average of 24.5 kmpl.

The power figures are much lower for the CNG type, which you'll notice when you get behind the wheel. When the AC is turned on, the car struggles over flyovers and does not perform well when fully loaded. However, this is a car designed for city driving or infrequent interstate use. The scarcity of boot space is one of CNG Alto's drawbacks. The rear parcel tray isn't even available to conceal the cylinder.

Exterior

The Maruti Alto appears adorable and simple from the outside. The Alto now has a sleeker grille design with a large Suzuki emblem in the center. The new bumper design and the sharper creases give it a sportier appearance. The blacked-out mesh pattern is appealing, as is the headlight design. There are provisions for fog lights, but they are not standard equipment.  Body-colored door handles and outside rearview mirrors are also included on the top-spec VXI+ model. The back profile maintains the simple design approach of the front profile, and not much has changed from before.

The exteriors include a new aero edge design, dual-tone interiors, and improved safety features such as reverse parking sensors and ABS with EBD. The Maruti Alto 800 will be available in six different colors: Uptown Red, Mojito Green, Cerullo Blue, Superior White, Silky Silver, and Granite Grey. Maruti Alto figures 3445 mm in length, 1515 mm in width, and 1475 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2360 mm, which is adequate for a car of this size, and a ground clearance of 160 mm. It should be noted that Alto's length has been increased by 50 mm over the previous model. This extra length is due to the redesigned bumper design, allowing Alto to conform to the new pedestrian standards. The hatchback has a petrol tank size of 35 liters and luggage carrying capacity of 177 liters.

Interior

The interiors of the Suzuki Alto 800 now have a different look, with a dual-tone dashboard that flows seamlessly from the AC ducts to the new and attractive speedometer. The bottle holders at the back and the ergonomic design make it reasonably practical. Seat upholstery is available in fabric or vinyl, with silver accents on the door handles, steering wheels, and center garnish. The Maruti Alto gets manual HVAC, a 12V pocket socket, total folding rear seats, cup holders in front and back, front power windows, internally adjustable outside rearview mirrors, front door pockets, a roof-mounted antenna, a headlight leveler, two speakers, central locking, and a 4-way manually adjustable driver and front passenger seat.

Given the price of this hatchback, the Maruti Alto's seats are adequate. On longer journeys, further bolstering may be required for improved support. It cannot also alter the driver's height. Overall, it's a four-seater hatchback with minimal capacity for a third passenger in the back.

Safety

According to its affordability, the Maruti Alto has a good set of safety features. Standard features include a driver-side airbag, anti-lock braking with electronic brake-force distribution, a high-speed alert system, front seat belt warning, brake assist, engine immobilizer, central locking, a rear child lock, and clever reverse parking sensors. Dual front airbags are standard on the Maruti Alto VXI and VXI+ models.

The STD and LXI models are available with a front passenger airbag; however, they are optional. The steering column of the Maruti Alto is collapsible, also known as the energy-absorbing column. It reduces the risk of injury to the driver in the event of a frontal collision. The Global NCAP has not yet tested this latest Alto model. The previous model, which lacked airbags, received a zero-star rating in the Global NCAP test. It received zero points out of 17 for adult occupant protection and 18.21 points out of 49 for child occupant protection. The car's body shell was deemed unstable.
